both, I co-op when:
+Excavation - we can split when co-op
+Defence (duo) - co-op 4 player mostly bad because no one use Support. but duo we can use 2 DPS and 2 SP
+Bounty Comm - nah too big and they recommend us to play co-op

i use co-op for farming thoughts and weapons, i've noticed it's kinda faster and for some reason a bit luckier than solo. and i play alone for something quick like materials for forging

I mostly play solo, but when i can i play Coop when i need to farm and its fun.
